The Perfect Red Rose
The perfect red rose was one in a bouquet of roses given to me by my husband. These intoxicating flowers brightened up our house for days during which they became perfect subjects for painting.
On a creative afternoon, I toned an 11 by 14 inch canvas with the color viridian. I, then, painted this sparkling red rose portrait immediately on top of my green undertone, using numerous shades of red to achieve both cool and warm color in balance. The wonderful result from this wet on wet mix of complimentary colors, is a lush and vibrant oil painting, with colors that simply glow.
