The weather is warming up quickly in Atlanta. We are enjoying our southern sunshine and our daily temperatures are marching upward well past eighty degrees. My family longs to pack our swimsuits and cooler and hop in our car for our annual trip to the shore. We dream of refreshing ocean breezes and the feeling of sand beneath our feet.
Summer beach days are always among the very best days of the year. And, yet, an adventure to the shore is still some weeks away.
In my painting studio, I spend hours viewing past vacation pictures and reminiscing about those very special days filled with sunrises, sunsets and strolls along the shore. I am so thankful for our beautifully colored photos and most especially the many special memories they evoke!
My eye keeps returning to one ocean sunrise. This vacation photo inspires the vision for a new oil painting to include every luminescent color that happens only at daybreak.
With each brushstroke, I remember this very special morning. I recreate the luminescence of sunlight reflecting in the water and sky. Over many days, the beauty of this awesome sunrise over the ocean takes form, captured for all time!
This new painting sits on my easel and it makes me smile! As it glows in the evening light of my studio, it reminds me to be patient. There will be days at the shore in the future, but until then, I can enjoy Surf Lover’s Sunrise! – And, so can you!
Thank you for visiting with me. I love sharing today’s canvas currently On The Easel with you!
Look for Surf Lover’s Sunrise arriving in my online gallery as a reminder of summer fun. (Article image is “detail” from painting, canvas 16×20 inches).
Be well, Karen LaFontaine
