Today’s Prayer

Prayer 2021

My healing hand
upon your shoulder.
My prayer.

Your body
is my body.
Your soul
is my soul.
The day I was born
you gave me
a most courageous heart,
unafraid,
to go forth
in this world.

Today,
my heartbeat
is your heartbeat.
I give you my life’s force
as you once gave yours to me.
We are of the same spirit.
My strength I can return
to you.

My life force
is your life force.
God knows us as one.
One force, He set upon this land.
Fearless, strong,
for all time.

Your daughter, Karen

Thank you for visiting with me in my Artist’s Journal, On The Easel. This poem entitled, Today’s Prayer, was written for my father, Edgar, in February 2021, during his unexpected hospital stay. He has returned home, and is recovering.

You rest, Daddy. I will paint.

(This poem’s image is a detail from my oil painting entitled, Atlantic Sunrise, 11 x 14 inches, oil on canvas. I invite to enjoy Atlantic Sunrise available as museum quality giclée, in my online art gallery.

Stay Safe! Be well, Karen LaFontaine
